Games of May 1

The Lookouts play some small ball.  Dereck Rodriguez and Max Murphy carry the Miracle.  It's only two games, but it's two consecutive sweeps!

CHATTANOOGA 5, JACKSON 2 IN JACKSON

A sacrifice fly in the seventh gave the Lookouts a 3-2 lead and they added two in the ninth to cement the win.  The Generals did not get a hit after Kelly Dugan's two-out homer in the sixth.  Two passed balls and a wild pitch contributed to Chattanooga's first two runs.

Felix Jorge bounced back from a poor outing, pitching six innings and giving up two runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Luke Bard struck out three in two shutout innings and Mason Melotakis kept his ERA at zero with a perfect ninth.  He has struck out 8 in 11.2 innings while giving up 5 hits and 1 walk.  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-5 and is batting .325.  Dan Gamache was also 2-for-5.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with two walks and is batting .322.

FORT MYERS 4, DAYTONA 1 IN FORT MYERS

A three-run fourth was all the Miracle needed.  Max Murphy tripled and scored in the inning and Shane Kennedy later hit a two-run homer.  The Tortugas got their lone run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.

Dereck Rodriguez had another strong performance, going seven innings and giving up one run on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts.  His ERA falls to 2.81.  Williams Ramirez pitched a perfect inning to lower his ERA to 1.50.  Nick Anderson struck out two in a perfect inning to keep his ERA at zero through 9.1 innings.  He has struck out 9 while giving up 5 hits and 1 walk.  Murphy stayed hot, going 3-for-5 with a triple and a double to raise his average to .321.  Over his last five games he is 13-for-21 and has raised his average 114 points.  Kennedy was 2-for-4.  Chris Paul was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .320.
