Twins: LaMonte Wade was 1-for-4 with two walks. Sean Miller was 1-for-5. Ryan Eades pitched one inning, giving up an
unearned run on two hits with one strikeout.
SURPRISE 11, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE
Leading 4-0 after six, a seven-run seventh put
the game out of reach. Michael O'Neill (Texas) was 3-for-6 with a
double. Zach Lovvorn (Kansas City) pitched four shutout innings, giving
up four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
GLENDALE 4, MESA 3 IN GLENDALE
Logan Hill (Pittsburgh) homered leading off
the seventh to break a 3-3 tie. It was the second home run for Hill, who
went 2-for-4. Sean Brady (Cleveland) struck out five in three shutout innings,
giving up one hit and one walk.
PEORIA 12, SALT RIVER 1 IN PEORIA
A four-run fourth made it 6-0 and Peoria added
five in the seventh. Josh Naylor (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with a home run
and Alex Jackson (Atlanta) hit a grand slam. T. J. Zeuch (Toronto) struck
out four in three perfect innings. Salt River did not get a baserunner
until there was one out in the fifth and did not get a hit until one out in the
ninth.
VENEZUELAN LEAGUE
Twins: Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Margarita.
CARACAS 5, MARGARITA 4 IN CARACAS
Wilfredo Tovar drove in the winning run with
an RBI single with two out in the ninth. Tovar, who drove in there runs,
was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Alexander Palma was 3-for-5.
MAGALLANES 8, LARA 7 IN MAGALLANES
Trailing 7-4 after seven, Magallanes scored
two in the eighth and two in the ninth. Ronny Cedeno's RBI single drove
in the winning run. Cedeno was 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Luis Torrens
was 3-for-4 and scored twice.
ARAGUA 4, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ANZOATEGUI (10
INNINGS)
Luis Jimenez homered with two out in the
bottom of the ninth to tie it 1-1. In the tenth, however, Miguel Mendez'
two-run double keyed a three-run Aragua inning to give them the win.
Robert Zarate struck out three in 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and
one walk. Anzoategui's first hit came with two out in the seventh.
ZULIA 9, LA GUAIRA 3 IN ZULIA
Zulia scored five in the second to take a 7-0
lead. David Vidal was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. William
Oliver pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk with one
strikeout.
MEXICAN LEAGUE
JALISCO 6, OBREGON 0 IN JALISCO
Jalisco scored three in the third and three in
the eighth. Jesus Cruz struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up
two hits and no walks.
MAZATLAN 6, MEXICALI 3 IN MAZATLAN
Trailing 3-2, Mazatlan scored four in the
eighth to go into the lead to stay. Gavin Cecchini's three-run triple
brought home the go-ahead runs. Cyle Hankerd was 3-for-3 with a double
and a walk. Jose Aguilar was 2-for-3 with a home run.
CULIACAN 8, LOS MOCHIS 3 IN CULIACAN
Culiacan scored four in the first and never
led by less than three runs. Alfredo Amezaga was 2-for-3 with a double
and a walk. Issmael Salas was 2-for-3 with a double. Salvador
Valdez pitched four shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk with two
strikeouts.
NAVOJOA 11, HERMOSILLO 3 IN NAVOJOA
Trailing 2-1, Navojoa scored three in the
fifth and four in the sixth. Jesus Castillo hit a three-run homer in the
fifth to give Navojoa the lead to stay. Castillo had two home runs in the
game, going 2-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs. Jovan Rosa was 3-for-4
with a walk and Christian Zazueta was 3-for-5. Eddie Gamboa struck out
five in four shutout innings, giving up no hits but five walks.
DOMINICAN LEAGUE
Twins: Carlos Paulino (Gigantes) was 1-for-3.
GIGANTES 6, AGUILAS 1 AT GIGANTES
The Gigantes got two in the first and two in
the third to take a 4-0 lead. Eloy Jimenez was 2-for-4 with a home
run. Cameron Perkins was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
ORIENTE 10, LICEY 2 IN LICEY
A pair of four-run innings, one in the second
and one in the fifth, carried Oriente. Gabriel Guerrero was
4-for-5. Hector Gimenez was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring
four times.
ESCOGIDO 6, ESTE 5 IN ESTE
Blake Swihart delivered a two-out RBI double
in the ninth to bring in what turned out to be the winning run. Danny
Richar was 2-for-5. Eury Perez was 2-for-6.
