Adalberto Mejia
pitches very well in his Rochester debut. Randy LeBlanc does not pitch
well at all in his Chattanooga debut. An eight-run innings sinks Fort
Myers. Cedar Rapids can't climb out of an early hole.
LOUISVILLE 2, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER (10 INNINGS)
It was scoreless
through seven. Each team scored one in the eighth and had the chance to
get more. Philip Ervin homered leading off the top of the tenth to put
the Bats ahead to stay. The Red Wings had men on first and second with
none out and second and third with one out, but John Ryan Murphy struck
out and Leonardo Reginatto grounded out to end the game.
Adalberto
Mejia pitched brilliantly in his Red Wings debut,
going seven shutout innings and giving up just two hits and no walks with six
strikeouts. Bengie Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a walk, getting
two of the four Rochester hits. Ehire Adrianza was 1-for-4
with a walk and is batting .438. Matt Hague was 0-for-4 with
a walk and is batting .301.
JACKSON 10, CHATTANOOGA 3 IN JACKSON
An eight-run third
inning settled matters early. The Generals batted twelve in the inning,
getting four singles, three walks, a double and a home run. The homer was
a three-run shot by Travis Denker.
All eight of the runs
came off Randy LeBlanc, who was making his first AA start of the
season. He had held Jackson scoreless for two innings, but his line reads
two innings, eight runs, eight hits, three walks, and no strikeouts, giving him
an ERA of 36.00. Mason Melotakis pitched two shutout innings
of relief, keeping his ERA at zero. He has pitched 10.2 innings and given
up five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts. Nick Burdi gave
up his first run of the season, making his ERA 1.08. He has given up five
hits and three walks with ten strikeouts in 8.1 innings. LaMonte
Wade was 3-for-4 with a double. Engelb Vielma was
2-for-4 with a double and is batting .324. Dan Gamache was
2-for-4. Nick Gordon was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting
.325.
DUNEDIN 8, FORT MYERS 4 IN FORT MYERS
The Blue Jays scored
three in the first and led all the way. It was 7-0 before the Miracle got
on the board and they were never closer than four runs.
Keaton
Steele continued to struggle, going four innings and
allowing seven runs on nine hits and four walks with one strikeout. His
ERA is now 8.10. Williams Ramirez struck out three in two
shutout innings, lowering his ERA to 1.64. Jonny Drozd gave
up a run on two hits with three strikeouts, making his ERA 1.80. Max
Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks. Chris
Paul was 2-for-5 and is batting .310. Trey Vavra was
1-for-4 to get his average into triple digits at .102.
PEORIA 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN PEORIA
Andy Young hit a
three-run homer in the third and Tommy Edman doubled home two in the fourth to
put the Chiefs up 5-1. The Kernels got a run in the eighth and had the
bases loaded with two out, but Ben Rortvedt grounded out and
they went down in order in the ninth.
Dominick
Carlini pitched 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on
five hits and four walks with one strikeout. His ERA is now 6.97. Logan
Lombana pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 1.50.
Max Cordy struck out three in two shutout innings. Jermaine
Palacios was 3-for-5 and is batting .395. Jaylin Davis was
2-for-3 with a walk. Mitchell Kranson was 0-for-5 and is
batting .324. Rortvedt was 1-for-4 to raise his average to
triple digits at .100.
