Puerto Rican League: Games of November 2


Ryan O'Rourke makes a successful debut.  A pitchers' duel in Caguas.  Not many runs in Carolina, either.

SANTURCE 1, CAGUAS 0 IN CAGUAS

Twins:  Ryan O'Rourke (Caguas) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and one walk.
Santurce:  James Houser struck out five in five innings, giving up one hit and two walks.
Caguas:  Jorge Padilla was 1-for-2 with a walk and a double.  Michael Nix pitched four shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
The game:  The lone run came in the sixth on a two-out RBI single by John Rodriguez.  The best chance Caguas had to tie it came in the seventh, when Edgardo Baez was thrown out trying to score from first on a double.

CAROLINA 4, PONCE 1 IN CAROLINA

Twins:  Josue Montanez (Ponce) pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout.
Ponce:  Ivan De Jesus (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-3 with a walk and a double.  Yovan Gonzalez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Logan Williamson pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Carolina:  Shuhei Fukuda was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, driving in two.  Rene Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double.  Dan Cevette (Pittsburgh) pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
The game:  Carolina scored one in the first and Ponce tied it with one in the fifth.  In the seventh, RBI singles by Fukuda and Carlos Moncrief (Cleveland) gave Carolina a 3-1 lead.  Carolina scored an insurance run in the eighth on a double play.
