Two Twins prospects come through with pinch-hits. Josue Montanez
starts to make a name for himself. The plan is to get completely
caught up this afternoon.
ROCHESTER 6, PAWTUCKET 2 IN ROCHESTER
Batting stars:
Drew Butera was
2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his second. Chris
Colabello was 1-for-2
with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Ray
Olmedo was 1-for-3 with a
walk, scoring once and driving in one.
Pitching stars:
Pedro Hernandez pitched
six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks while
striking out three. Aaron
Thompson struck out three
in three shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.
Opposition
stars: Dan Butler was 3-for-4
with a double and a home run. Bryce Brentz was 2-for-4 with a double
and an RBI. Drew Sutton was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.
Key inning:
The sixth. The Red Wings led 3-1. In the top of the inning, Brentz
hit an RBI double to make it 3-2. The Red Sox had runners on first
and third with two out, but did not score further. In the bottom of
the inning, Eric Farris
drew a two-out walk,
stole second, and scored on an Olmedo
single to give Rochester
a two-run lead again.

PORTLAND 4 IN PORTLAND

three-run homer, his fifth. Josmil
Pinto was 1-for-4 with a
walk and a home run, his twelfth.
Pitching stars:
Cole Johnson struck
out three in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and two walks.
Dakota Watts struck
out one in a perfect inning.
Opposition
stars: J. C. Linares was
2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Christian Vazquez was 2-for-5 and
scored once.
Key inning:
The ninth. The score was tied at four. Doubles by Reynaldo
Rodriguez and
pinch-hitter Miguel Sano
gave the Rock Cats the
lead. Eddie Rosario
followed with an RBI
single that gave New Britain an insurance run.
Prospect watch:
Sano was
used as a pinch-hitter and doubled in his only at-bat. Trevor
May pitched six innings,
giving up four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six.
CEDAR
RAPIDS 3, WISCONSIN 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Batting stars:
Dalton Hicks was
2-for-4 with a home run, his thirteenth. Travis
Harrison was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars:
Josue Montanez struck
out five in 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two
walks. Tyler Jones struck
out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition
stars: Ryan Gibbard pitched 5.1
innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking
out four. Alfredo Rodriguez was 2-for-4.
Key inning:
The eighth. The TimberRattlers had scored in the seventh to cut the
Kernels lead to 2-1. The first two batters of the Cedar Rapids
eighth fanned, but Hicks
hit a home run to provide
a needed insurance run.

0-for-3 but scored once.

BLUEFIELD
6, ELIZABETHTON 5 IN BLUEFIELD
Batting stars:
Logan Wade was
2-for-3 with a triple and a three-run homer, his first. Mitch

an RBI. Zach Granite was
1-for-3 with a walk and a double and scored once.
Pitching stars:
Felix Jorge gave
up just one hit and no walks in five innings, striking out four.
Ethan Mildren struck
out one in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and one walk.

Saez was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jairo Labourt struck out six in
three innings, allowing one run on two hits and a walk.
Key inning:
The eighth. Trailing 5-0, the Blue Jays scored six times. A single
and two walks loaded the bases with two out. Mitch Nay singled in
one, a passed ball let in the second, Saez singled in two more, and
following a walk, Matt Dean doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs.

RAYS 4, GCL TWINS 3 AT TWINS
Batting star:
Evan Bigley was
2-for-4 with a double and scored once.
Pitching stars:
Fernando Romero struck
out five in three shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk.
Daniel Sattler pitched
a perfect inning.
Opposition
star: Mario Fernandez allowed
two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks in five innings.
Key inning:
The sixth. The score was tied at two. A walk, a hit batsman, and
an infield single loaded the bases with none out. A sacrifice fly
scored the go-ahead run and a single by Hector Montes brought home an
insurance run.
Prospect watch:
Kohl Stewart made
his professional debut, giving up one run on two hits and no walks
while striking out two in two innings.
Zach Larson was 1-for-4
with a home run, his third. Amaurys
Minier was used as a
pinch-hitter and was 1-for-1.

REDS 6, DSL TWINS 3 AT TWINS (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice. Manuel
Guzman was 3-for-4 with a
triple and three RBIs.
Pitching star:
Javier Vargas pitched
a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Opposition
stars: Starter Jacob Constante
struck out six in four innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits
and two walks. Hector Vargas was 1-for-2 with a double and scored
twice.
Key inning:
The third. It was a scoreless tie when the Rays struck for four.
They got only one hit in the inning, a single, with the runs scoring
on a walk, two errors, and two wild pitches. The Twins got one back
in the bottom of the inning, but never really mounted a comeback.
Prospect watch:
Frank Encarnacion was
0-for-4. Joel Ramirez was
1-for-3 and scored once.

Elias Villasana struck

of the four men he faced, walking the other.

stars: Starter Eury Cantilizo

The fourth. The Reds trailed 1-0. A single, an error, and a walk
loaded the bases with one out, and consecutive singles by Hector
Vargas and Erick Gabo brought all three runners home.
