VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

MARGARITA 4, LA GUAIRA 3 IN LA GUAIRA

Twins:  Aaron Hicks was 1-for-5 and scored once.  Sean Burroughs was 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Game summary:  Burroughs singled in Hicks with the go-ahead run in the seventh, breaking a 2-2 tie.

Margarita:  Boof Bonser (San Francisco) worked four innings, giving up two runs on four hits.  Rene Reyes was 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

La Guaira:  Cesar Suarez was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.  Tyson Brummett (Philadelphia) struck out five in five innings, allowing a run on three hits and three walks.

ZULIA 9, ARAGUA 0 IN ARAGUA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-3 and struck out twice.  Josmil Pinto was 0-for-3 and struck out once.  Edgar Ibarra surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out three in three innings.  Angel Mata allowed one run on two hits while striking out three in 1.2 innings.

Game summary:  Zulia scored five in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead and never looked back.

Zulia:  Evan Gattis (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in three.  Austin Bibens-Dirkx (Colorado) worked 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out three.

Aragua:  Alex Romero was 2-for-3 with a walk.

LARA 3, MAGALLANES 2 IN LARA (10 INNINGS)

Game summary:  Tomas Perez delivered a two-run single to tie the score.  Joe Thurston led off the tenth with a triple and scored the winning run.

Magallanes:  Andres Blanco (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4.  Matt Shoemaker (Angels) struck out four in 5.1 scoreless innings.

Lara:  Hernan Iribarren (Colorado) was 3-for-5 and drove in the winning run.  Bobby Korecky worked two shutout innings, striking out two.

ANZOATEGUI 8, CARACAS 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

Game summary:  Anzoategui scored five in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Victor Garate struck out seven in four innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

Anzoategui:  Jose Castillo was 3-for-4 and drove in two.  Juan Marcano (San Diego) allowed an unearned run on two hits and no walks in five innings.
