Games of August 20

Stephen Gonsalves has his first bad game in AAA.  Lewis Thorpe and Brian Olson make their AA debuts.  Brent Rooker keeps hitting.  Royce Lewis has a big game.  Brusdar Graterol pitches well.

LOUISVILLE 13, ROCHESTER 6 IN LOUISVILLE

Back-to-back homers by Alex Blandino and Brandon Dixon led to a 3-0 Bats lead in the first inning.  Dixon homered again in the second to make it 5-0.  The Red Wings got back into the game in the third when Niko Goodrum hit a two-run homer in a three-run inning that cut the lead to 5-3.  That was as good as it would get, though, because Louisville scored once in the third and had a seven-run inning in the fourth to put the game out of reach.  Dixon hit yet another home run in the inning, which also featured four walks and two hit batsmen.
Stephen Gonsalves had his first bad AAA game, lasting just three innings and allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Luke Bard struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings.  Leonardo Reginatto, normally an infielder, pitched two perfect innings of relief.  Anthony Recker was 2-for-3 with a double.  J. B. Shuck was 2-for-3 with a double.  Goodrum's homer was his thirteenth.  ByungHo Park also hit a home run, his eleventh.

CHATTANOOGA 11, TENNESSEE 6 IN TENNESSEE

Five singles, an error, and a sacrifice fly led to four Lookouts runs in the second.  Five more singles in the third produced three more runs and a 7-0 Chattanooga lead.  Charcer Burks hit a two-run homer in a three-run bottom of the third to cut the lead to 7-3, but two walks and two singles gave the Lookouts two more runs in the fourth and they added two runs in the fifth.
Lewis Thorpe made his AA debut, striking out seven in six innings while giving up four runs on five hits and two walks.  Todd Van Steensel struck out two in two innings to drop his ERA to 1.32 with 56 strikeouts in 54.2 innings.  T. J. White was 3-for-5 with five RBIs.  Jonathan Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs and is batting .309.  Alex Perez was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Andy Wilkins was 2-for-4 with two walks and three runs.  Brian Olson made his AA debut and was 2-for-5 with a double.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with a walk.  Max Murphy was 2-for-6.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-6 and is batting .300.

TAMPA 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN TAMPA

A balk put the Miracle on the board in the first.  The Yankees came back with two in the second and one in the third to make it 3-1.  It stayed 3-1 until the eighth, when Zander Weil hit a home run.  Fort Myers had men on first and second with one out in the ninth and advanced them to second and third with two out, but a strikeout ended the game.
Brady Anderson pitched five innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks with one strikeout.  Anthony McIver pitched a scoreless inning to lower his ERA to 2.26.  Michael Kohn pitched a scoreless inning to keep his ERA at zero with 5 strikeouts in 3 innings.  Alex Muren pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 2.25 with 37 strikeouts in 36 innings.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Weil's home run was his eleventh.  Chris Paul was 1-for-5 and is batting .341.

CEDAR RAPIDS 12, BELOIT 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored single runs in the first, second, and fourth to build a 3-0 lead, then scored six in the fifth to take control of the game.  Lewin Diaz had a two-run double in the inning.
Tyler Beardsley pitched six innings, giving up one run on eight hits and no walks with four strikeouts.  Max Cordy struck out all three men he faced.  Travis Blankenhorn was 4-for-5.  Royce Lewis was 4-for-6 and is batting .400.  Diaz was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double.  Joe Cronin was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth), a double, and a walk.  Shane Carrier was 2-for-5 with a home run (his sixth) and a double.  Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-5 with a triple.  Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-5 with a double.
