Games of June 11

Rochester and Chattanooga get good leads early and hold on.  Ryan Pressly continues to impress in Rochester.  Randy LeBlanc has some success in AA.  The Kernels go silent after the first inning.

ROCHESTER 6, SYRACUSE 5 IN ROCHESTER

J. B. Shuck hit a two-run triple and later scored to put the Red Wings up 3-0 in the second.  It was 5-0 after three, but the Chiefs got a solo homer from Joey Butler and a two-run shot by Jhonatan Solano to cut it to 5-3 in the fourth.  Zack Granite doubled and scored in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-3 and Rochester needed the run, as Syracuse scored twice in the sixth to make it 6-5.  The Chiefs had the tying run on second in the sixth and seventh and got him to third in the eighth, but never got him the rest of the way.
Matt Tracy, who was making his AAA debut because Nik Turley was making his major league debut, pitched well other than the fourth, going five innings and giving up three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Alan Busenitz pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 1.98.  Ryan Pressly struck out the side in a perfect inning, giving him seven strikeouts in four shutout innings.  Shuck was 2-for-4 with a triple and a double, driving in three.  ByungHo Park was 2-for-4 with a double.  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-4.  Zack Granite was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .312.

Games of June 10

A home run barrage sinks the Red Wings.  Early runs carry the Lookouts.  An early grand slam leads the Miracle.  A big inning puts the Kernels on top.  A big comeback drops the DSL Twins.

SYRACUSE 8, ROCHESTER 6 IN ROCHESTER

Home runs by Clint Robinson, Joey Butler, and Irving Falu led to a five-run second that put the Chiefs up 5-1.  Brandon Snyder hit a three-run homer in the fifth to make it 8-1.  The Red Wings came back with five in the bottom of the fifth to get back into the game.  There was no one big hit in the inning, as they got a double, four singles, a walk, and a hit batsman.  They left the tying run on base, however, and they would never get him there again.
It was a rough night for Yohan Pino, who lasted only 1.2 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits and no walks with no strikeouts.  The pitching star was Kam Mickolio, who pitched four perfect innings of relief with one strikeout.  Matt Hague was 3-for-5 to lead the offense.  Mitch Garver hit a home run, his fifth.  Zack Granite was 1-for-2 with three walks, breaking his string of eight consecutive multi-hit games but raising his average to .313.

J. White's two-run single.
Stephen Gonsalves struck out six in five innings but gave up three runs on five hits and two walks.  Nick Anderson struck out two in two perfect innings of relief.  John Curtiss pitched two shutout innings of relief with three strikeouts, keeping his ERA at zero through 22 innings (19 appearances) with 32 strikeouts, 11 hits, and 10 walks (0.95 WHIP).  White was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Strausborger was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with two walks to make his average .309.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .300.
