Games of October 21

The Dominican League has started.  The Twins have at least one player there.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SALT RIVER 3, SURPRISE 2 IN SALT RIVER
Kade Scivicque's RBI single in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie.  Mitch Garver was 1-for-4 for Surprise.  Mason Melotakis pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout for Surprise.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

ZULIA 4, CARACAS 3 IN CARACAS
Zulia scored two in the first and led all the way.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 for Zulia.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run for Caracas.
MARGARITA 5, ARAGUA 3 IN ARAGUA
Gabriel Noriega's RBI double broke a 3-3 tie in the ninth and Margarita added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly.  Ryan O'Rourke pitched two-thirds of an inning for Margarita, giving up one run on one hit.
MAGALLANES 3, LARA 2 IN MAGALLANES
Magallanes scored single runs in the third, sixth, and seventh to take a 3-0 lead, then held on as Lara scored two in the ninth and had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-4 for Magallanes.
ANZOATEGUI 5, LA GUAIRA 4 IN ANZOATEGUI
RBI singles by Rossmel Perez and Luis Domoromo in the seventh inning turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead.  Heiker Meneses was 2-for-4 with a triple and a double, driving in three for La Guaira.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-5 for Anzoategui.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

GIGANTES 4, AGUILAS 0 AT GIGANTES
A three-run fifth put the Gigantes up 4-0.  Carlos Paulino was 0-for-3 for the Gigantes.
LICEY 4, ESCOGIDO 3 IN LICEY
A bases-loaded walk to Rymer Liriano brought home the go-ahead run in the seventh.
ORIENTE 5, ESTE 3 IN ESTE
It was 1-0 Este after seven, but in the eighth Junior Lake hit a two-run double and Audy Ciriaco hit a three-run homer to give Oriente the win.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

CULIACAN 6, JALISCO 2 IN JALISCO
Four singles and a sacrifice fly produced three first-inning runs for Culiacan and they were in control all the way.
LOS MOCHIS 2, MAZATLAN 1 IN LOS MOCHIS
The go-ahead run scored on an error in the eighth.
NAVOJOA 5, MEXICALI 1 IN NAVOJOA
Yosmany Guerra's two-run single gave Navojoa a 4-1 lead in the fourth and they were never in trouble after that.
HERMOSILLO 6, OBREGON 3 IN HERMOSILLO
With Hermosillo trailing 3-2, Roberto Ramos hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh to put Hermosillo ahead to stay.

Games of October 20

PEORIA 6, SURPRISE 4 IN SURPRISE

Surprise overcame a 3-0 deficit to lead 4-3 after five, but three walks and two singles produced two Peoria runs in the sixth to put them in the lead to stay.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-5 for Surprise.  Mitch Garver was 0-for-5.  Tanner English was 0-for-4.

ARAGUA 5, ZULIA 3 IN ARAGUA

A two-run single by Teodoro Martinez in the fourth inning gave Aragua a 3-2 lead and they led the rest of the way.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Zulia.  Jairo Rodriguez was -for-3 with a walk for Aragua.  The starting pitchers were each ex-Twins:  Shairon Martis for Zulia, Yohan Pino for Aragua.

MARGARITA 3, LARA 1 IN LARA

Gabriel Noriega's two-run double in the seventh provided the margin of victory.  No Twins played.

CARACAS 9, MAGALLANES 8 IN CARACAS

Magallanes led 8-2, but Caracas scored seven in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead and the win.  Wilfredo Tovar was 3-for-5 with a double for Caracas, scoring once and driving in one.  His double in the eighth drove in the go-ahead run.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 with two runs for Magallanes.  Victor Tademo was used as a pinch-runner.

LA GUAIRA 15, ANZOATEGUI 4

It was tied 4-4 through seven, but La Guaira scored five in the eighth and six in the ninth.  Anzoategui used seven pitchers in the last two innings, six in the eighth.  Heiker Meneses was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two, for La Guaira.  Niko Goodrum was 0-for-3 with a run for Anzoategui.

Games of October 19

SURPRISE 2, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE

Single runs in the fifth and sixth gave the Saguaros a 2-1 win.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Randy Rosario struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  John Curtiss pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

ZULIA 9, ARAGUA 2 IN ARAGUA

Zulia scored three in the second and three in the third to take a 6-2 lead.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-5 for Zulia.

LARA 6, MARGARITA 5 IN LARA

Margarita scored five in the top of the eighth to go up 5-2, but Lara got four in the bottom of the eighth, three on a home run by Jesus Montero, to win.  Omar Bencomo started and pitched 6.1 innings for Margarita, giving up two runs on three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  Ryan O'Rourke faced one man, gave up a double, and was charged with a run when the man later scored.

LA GUAIRA 4, CARACAS 0 IN LA GUAIRA

Jose Martinez homered in the fourth and La Guaira added three more in the seventh.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-3 for Caracas.  Heiker Meneses was 0-for-3 for La Guaira.

ANZOATEGUI 11, MAGALLANES 3 IN ANZOATEGUI

A three-run third put Anzoategui ahead 5-2 and they never trailed.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-3 for Magallanes.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one, for Anzoategui.

Games of October 18

SALT RIVER 4, SURPRISE 1 IN SURPRISE

Ryan McMahon's two-run triple capped a three-run seventh that broke a 1-1 tie and provided Salt River with its margin of victory.  Mitch Garver was 0-for-4 with an RBI.  Tanner English was 1-for-4.  Mason Melotakis pitched a perfect inning.

MAGALLANES 5, ANZOATEGUI 3 IN ANZOATEGUI

Magallanes took a 3-0 lead after five and never trailed, although Anzoategui twice cut the lead to one run.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI for Magallanes.  Niko Goodrum was 0-for-5 for Anzoategui.

CARACAS 1, ARAGUA 0 IN CARACAS

Three consecutive singles brought home the game's only run in the sixth inning.  The last of those was by Wilfredo Tovar, who was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Caracas.

Nick Gordon's two-run double put the Saguaros ahead 2-0 in the third and they never trailed.  Gordon was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Tanner English was 0-for-3.

LARA 6, ZULIA 0 IN ZULIA

A three-run fourth put Lara up 4-0 and they stayed in control of the game.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 for Zulia.

GAMES OF OCTOBER 15

SURPRISE 8, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN SURPRISE
Surprise scored two in the first and never trailed.  Mitch Garver was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.  John Curtiss struck out two in one inning but allowed a run on three hits.  Randy Rosario pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and striking out one.
ANZOATEGUI 15, CARACAS 6 IN CARACAS
Leading 5-3, Anzoategui scored nine in the seventh to put away the win.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times for Anzoategui.  Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring twice and driving in two, for Caracas.
ZULIA 9, LARA 3 IN ZULIA
Trailing 3-1, Zulia scored five in the fifth to go into the lead to stay.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-5 with a run and two RBIs for Zulia.  He circled the bases on a three-run single-plus-error in the fifth, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs.
MAGALLANES 7, ARAGUA 2 IN ARAGUA (3 1/2 INNINGS--SUSPENDED DUE TO RAIN)
Luis Arraez is 0-for-2 with a walk and a run for Magallanes.  Jairo Rodriguez is 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Aragua.
MARGARITA 5, LA GUAIRA 3 IN MARGARITA
No Twins played.

GAMES OF OCTOBER 16

ANZOATEGUI 10, CARACAS 8 IN CARACAS (10 INNINGS)
An RBI double by Luis Domoromo and a run-scoring single by Hernan Iribarren provided the margin of victory for Anzoategui.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-6 for Anzoategui.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-4 with a run for Caracas.
ZULIA 1, LARA 0 IN ZULIA
Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for 3 with a home run (his third) in the second inning to provide the game's only run.  Lara used four pitchers and Zulia used six.
LA GUAIRA 10, MARGARITA 2 IN MARGARITA
La Guaira scored five in the third to go up 5-2 and was never threatened.  Heiker Meneses was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in three for La Guaira.  Nick Greenwood started for Margarita and pitched three innings, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout.
MAGALLANES 7, ARAGUA 1 IN MAGALLANES
Magallanes scored six runs in the first on their way to an easy victory.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-3 for Magallanes.  Jairo Rodriguez was 1-for-3 for Aragua.

Games of October 6-13

To my surprise, I learned today that the Venezuelan League started on October 6.  The Mexican League has started, too, but the Twins don't appear to have any players there.  Here are recaps of how the games have been going and how Twins players have been doing.  I'll try to do these recaps more-or-less daily, but I'm sure there will be days when I don't do one.
GAMES OF OCTOBER 6
Reynaldo Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs as Zulia defeated Anzoategui 11-4.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run for Anzoategui.
Omar Bencomo struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks, as Margarita defeated Magallanes 9-2.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Magallanes.
Heiker Meneses was 0-for-4 as La Guaira fell to Lara 6-4 in twelve innings.
Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run as Caracas defeated Aragua 4-3.  Jairo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Arauga.
GAMES OF OCTOBER 7
Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-5, but Zulia still defeated Anzoategui 12-11.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs for Anzoategui.
Jairo Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with an RBI as Aragua defeated Margarita 5-1.
Wilfredo Tovar was 5-for-6 with two runs and two RBis as Caracas defeated Lara 18-9.  He wasn't even the offensive star for his team, as Jesus Guzman went 6-for-6 with a home run.
Heiker Meneses was 1-for-2 with a walk as La Guaria defeated Magallanes 4-3.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-2 with a run for Magallanes.  Victor Tademo was used by Magallanes as a pinch-runner.
GAMES OF OCTOBER 8
Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a run as Zulia defeated La Guaira 16-3.  Herlis Rodriguez hit for the cycle and had seven RBIs for Zulia.  Heiker Meneses was 0-for-3 for La Guaira.
Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 with a double and a run as Magallanes defeated Aragua 6-1.  Edwar Colina pitched a scoreless inning for Magallanes, giving up two hits.
Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5 with a walk as Anzoategui defeated Caracas 12-4.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one, for Caracas.
GAMES OF OCTOBER 9
Reynaldo Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs as Zulia defeated La Guaira 6-4.
Jairo Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI as Aragua defeated Lara 9-1.
Wilfredo Tovar was 0-for-5, but Caracas still defeated Anzoategui 7-2.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-4 for Anzoategui.
Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two, Magallanes defeated Margarita 6-5.  Ryan O'Rourke pitched two-thirds of an innings, allowing two runs on a hit and a walk, for Margarita.

Heiker Meneses was 1-for-4 with an RBI as La Guaira defeated Caracas 6-3.  Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one, for Caracas.

Wilfredo Tovar was 0-for-5 as Caracas lost to Lara 5-4.
Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 as Magallanes defeated Zulia 3-2.  Victor Tademo was used as a pinch-runner and scored.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Zulia.
