Games of July 30-31

Stephen Gonsavles and Tyler Fox were the stars Saturday.  LaMonte Wade was the only star Sunday.

GAMES OF JULY 30

LEHIGH VALLEY 3, ROCHESTER 0 IN ROCHESTER
The IronPigs scored all their runs in the second inning.  Apart from that inning, Nick Greenwood pitched quite well.  He went 7.1 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with one strikeout.  The Red Wings had only four hits.  Reynaldo Rodriguez, back from his rehab assignment, had half of them, going 2-for-3 with a double.
CHATTANOOGA 9, TENNESSEE 1 IN CHATTANOOGA
Leading 1-0 through four, the Lookouts scored three in the fifth and four in the sixth.  Stephen Gonsalves continues to pitch well for the Lookouts after a slow start.  He struck out eight in six innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks.  Stuart Turner was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-4.  Zach Granite was 2-for-5.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 and is batting .316.
CLEARWATER 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS
Cord Sandberg's RBI single in the eighth broke a 2-2 tie.  Starter Fernando Romero pitched three shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with two strikeouts, but then came out after a lengthy rain dealy.  Luke Bard also pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  No Miracle player had more than one hit.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 and is batting .301.  LaMonte Wade was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .330.
CEDAR RAPIDS 6, BURLINGTON 1 IN BURLINGTON
A three-run third and a three-run homer by Zander Weil in the fifth was more than enough runs for the Kernels.  Cody Stashak took 91 pitches to get through five innings, but he gave up no runs on four hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Weil was 2-for-4 with a double in addition to the home run, which was his eleventh.  Christian Cavaness was 2-for-4.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 and is batting .327.
ELIZABETHTON 6, BRISTOL 3 IN ELIZABETHTON
Trailing 3-0 half-way through, the Twins scored four in the fifth and never trailed again.  Sean Poppen struck out six in 4.1 innings, but allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks.  Alex Robinson struck out five in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.  He has 33 strikeouts (and 22 walks) in 20.2 innings.  Alex Kirilloff was 3-for-4 and is batting .372.  Amaurys Minier was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.  Trey Cabbage was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Brandon Lopez was 1-for-4 and is batting .352.
GCL TWINS 9, GCL RED SOX 0 AT RED SOX
Tyler Fox was outstanding, pitching seven shutout innings and giving up just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.  Callan Pearce pitched a scoreless inning to drop his ERA to 0.59.  A four-run fifth put the Twins up 5-0 and they cruised from there.  Aaron Whitefield was 3-for-5 with a home run and is batting .314.  Dane Hutcheon was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Justin Hazard was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .364.  Zach Featherstone was also 2-for-5 with a double.  Tanner English, on a rehab assignment, was 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk.
DSL MARINERS1 12, DSL TWINS 2 AT MARINERS1
A three-run third put the Mariners1 up 4-0 and they were in control the rest of the way.  For a reason I don't know, Edwar Colina started but pitched only two innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  The Twins had only four hits and no Twin had more than one.  Victor Tademo was 1-for-4 and is batting .301.  Jorge Parra was 0-for-3 with a walk and is also batting .301.

GAMES OF JULY 31

LEHIGH VALLEY 5, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER
The IronPigs scored two in the second and never trailed.  Andrew Albers struck out five in 4.2 innings but allowed three runs on six hits and two walks.  The Red Wings had only four hits, half of them by Logan Schafer, who was 2-for-3 with a walk.
CHATTANOOGA AT MOBILE (SUSPENDED GAME)
The game was suspended with the Lookouts lead 1-0 and still batting in the top of the third.  They have men on first and third with one out.
CLEARWATER 8, FORT MYERS 5 IN FORT MYERS (FIVE-PLUS INNINGS, RAIN)
Zach Green hit a three-run homer in a four-run fifth that put the Threshers ahead 8-4.  The Miracle got one back in the fifth, but the game was ended early due to rain with Clearwater batting in the top of the sixth.  Miles Nordgren pitched four innings and gave up four runs on seven hits and four walks with no strikeouts.  Michael Theofanopoulos had a rare bad game, surrendering four runs on three hits and two walks in just one inning, more than doubling his ERA.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with two home runs (his third and fourth) and is batting .341.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .302.
BURLINGTON 6, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN BURLINGTON
The Bees scored three in the first before any batters were retired and they led the rest of the way.  Lachlan Wells had a rare bad game, pitching six innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Manuel Guzman was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Kevin Garcia and Christian Cavaness were each 2-for-4.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-4 and is batting .323.  Zander Weil was 1-for-3 with a home run (his twelfth) and a walk.  The bottom three batters in the Kernels lineup were 6-for-11.  The rest of the lineup was 4-for-23.
