Games of May 3

Alex Meyer pitched very well before tiring in the eighth, leading the Red Wings to victory.  It was the pitchers who had to Lookout in a Chattanooga victory.  The Miracle wastes good pitching from Brett Lee.  Felix Jorge pitched well if you throw out the second inning, which of course you can't.

ROCHESTER 7, NORFOLK 3 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Danny Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.  Eric Fryer was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.  Aaron Hicks was 2-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double.
Pitching stars:  Alex Meyer pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts.  A. J. Achter retired all five batters he faced with one strikeout.

The game:  Ortiz hit a two-run triple in a four-run first that gave the Red Wings a 4-0 lead.  The Tides got one in the third, but four consecutive two-out singles produced two Red Wings runs in the fifth and Hicks' homer in the sixth made it 7-1.  The Tides got two in the eighth and had the bases loaded, bringing up the tying run with one out, but a popup and a strikeout ended the threat.
Of note:  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4 with a walk.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-4 with a run.  Josmil Pinto was 1-for-4.

Games of May 1

A big game for Byron Buxton.  The Kernels get no-hit, wasting another good game from Stephen Gonsalves.  Zach Granite makes his high-A debut.  It seems like one-run games have not been kind to Twins affiliates so far.
